Bene – Kidney Recipient

Entertainer Bené was told by her doctors to get her life in order. Her heart and kidneys were failing. Friends rallied for her, but it was a stranger who rescued Bené from her terrible fate.

A woman she had never met volunteered to step forward and provided Bené with a kidney. To the Northern Nevada woman, it was a new lease on a new life.

“People tell me I look alive again. I felt my energy come back and my heart got better.”

That donor has remained in Bené’s life. “She calls me her older sister.”

The new life has lead Bené on a path toward helping others by telling her story and letting people know that the gift of life through organ and tissue donation can change lives of others. Her quest is getting more people to register.

“That heart on your driver’s license can mean help to someone you don’t even know.”
